NORTH BAHARIYA DEVELOPMENT LEASE, WESTERN DESERT EGYPT
IPRTOC was awarded the North Bahariya concession in April 1998 and the Ministry of Petroleum converted the license to a development lease in June 2004 after a series of successful discoveries. The original concession covered an area of 888 sq km while the remaining area is 444 sq with five new field discoveries having been made (Abrar, Ferdaus, Ganna, Rawda and Rayan) which were put on to production in September 2004. A full field development plan is underway, in which 3D Seismic, appraisal and infill drilling will be continued in the aggressive exploitation plan. The concession operates under Egypt’s Production Sharing Agreement under the newly formed Operating Company North Bahariya Petroleum Company (NORPETCO).
